Dr. Whitney's Portrait

Dr. Whitney received her PhD from the University of Washington (UW) and a BA from Pomona College. She taught at the University of Washington for 8 years and was trained in writing instruction and editing by UW’s English Department. Dr. Whitney helped design and teach some of the first online courses offered by UW, and graded over 10,000 college essays during this time. She also holds a UW Certificate in eLearning Instructional Design. She worked at Amazon for 4 years in strategic planning, where she built online learning tools. A lifelong tennis player, she was a 3x All-American in tennis at Pomona and continues to play competitively in the Pacific Northwest.

LMC Historical Preservation and Digitization Project (Founder, Director, Archivist, Author)2012-Present
Capturing the amazing 130-year history of the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle (est. 1891) by digitizing its extensive archives that document the history of Seattle and its music (https://lmcseattle.org/about/history/lmc-digital-archives/). This project is supported by 4Culture and other local arts patrons.
The book The Ladies Musical Club of Seattle: 130 Years of Cultivating Music in the Pacific Northwest by Dr. Whitney is due out in Fall 2021 (coinciding with a 130th birthday celebration).
